How to Mop with Rescue® Concentrate?

Proper dilution and application of Rescue® Concentrate is essential for effective cleaning and infection control in animal care environments. Whether you're performing routine disinfection or responding to a suspected infectious disease outbreak, following the correct dilution and contact time ensures both efficacy and safety.

First, determine the dilution best fit for your facility's needs using the chart below:

Scenario Dilution Ratio Measurements Contact Time
Daily Cleaning & Disinfection 1:64 2 oz/gallon of water 5 minutes
Outbreak 1:16 8 oz/gallon of water 5 minutes

How to mop using Rescue Concentrate:
  1. Remove animals from the area before cleaning and disinfecting.
  2. Dilute to the desired dilution ratio in a clean mop bucket.
    • Using a dilution system, pump, or measuring cup, dilute Rescue Concentrate to the desired dilution ratio into a mop bucket.
  3. Pre-clean heavily soiled areas.
    • Remove visible soils/urine and pre-clean the surfaces if required, by working from the least contaminated area to the most contaminated area. This can be done with the diluted Rescue Concentrate.
  4. Apply the diluted Concentrate to the floor with a mop.
    • Insert the mop into the solution and ensure the mop head is saturated. Mop the floor using a figure-8 pattern, until the area is evenly covered. The entire surface area should appear visibly wet.
  5. Allow the surface to remain wet for the 5-minute contact time.
    • Allowing surfaces to remain wet for 5 minutes kills viruses, bacteria and fungi per label instructions. Then, allow to air dry.
  6. Periodic Rinsing/Mopping with Water
    • A regular rinse or mopping step with clean water periodically is recommended after the contact time, to remove any built-up detergent residue. Keeping the floors appearing clean and streak-free.

Tips

Fresh Solution

  • When our diluted product is being used in an open container such as a mop bucket, we recommend a daily change to eliminate the risk of contamination or changing it sooner if you notice the liquid becoming clouded or foggy.

Avoiding Stickiness/Residue

To reduce stickiness here’s what you can do:

  • Rinse: An occasional rinse with water can help to get rid of this buildup on the floor. This can be done once a week, or every time you disinfect, depending on your preference.

  • Scrub, Rinse then Squeegee: After applying Rescue and letting it sit for the required contact time, use a scrubber to scrub the areas where buildup happens. Rinse with water then squeegee.

Compatibility Confirmation*

  • Remember to conduct a compatibility spot test on your floor, before proceeding with a full application.

*Always follow the recommendations provided by the manufacturer of the flooring and floor coatings for cleaning and disinfecting these materials.
