Yes, you can use Rescue™ for daily cleaning and disinfection of food-contact surfaces. We do recommend a rinse with water after disinfection.
Rescue™ is intended for use on hard, non-porous surfaces such as stainless steel, treated hardwood, most hard plastics, etc. If you are unsure of the material of the dish or food bowl, we would recommend conducting a spot test first to see if it is compatible with Rescue™ (i.e. applying diluted Rescue™ to a small area and observing any effects before proceeding).
Spraying/Wiping Method:
- Remove any visible liquids and soils from the dishes first.
- If you choose to use a detergent during this step, (although this is not necessary since Rescue™ is a cleaner and a disinfectant), you will need to follow with a rinse with water before the next step.
- Use a spray bottle to spray the dish or bowl, or wipe the bowl with a Rescue™ Wipe or pre-soaked cloth. Make sure to cover the entire surface that needs to be disinfected.
- Ensure the correct contact time is met
- Rescue™ Ready-to-Use Liquid: 1 minute
- Rescue™ Concentrate: 5-minutes with the 1:64 dilution for daily disinfection (2 oz/gallon of water) or 5 minutes with the 1:16 dilution for high-risk or during outbreak (8 oz/gallon of water).
- Provide a rinse with water, since this is a food-contact surface.
Soaking Method:
- Fill a tub with the Rescue™ Concentrate at your chosen dilution.
- 5-minutes with the 1:64 dilution for daily disinfection (2 oz/gallon of water) or 5 minutes with the 1:16 dilution for high-risk or during outbreak (8 oz/gallon of water).
- Remove any visible liquids and soils from the dishes first.
- If you choose to use a detergent during this step, (although this is not necessary since Rescue™ is a cleaner and a disinfectant), you will need to follow with a rinse with water before the next step.
- Place the dishes in the solution and allow them to soak for the required 5-minute contact time.
- Remove the dishes and provide a rinse with water, since these are food-contact surfaces.
- Observe the tub of Rescue™ solution: if there are any visible particles or dirt, you will need to dispose of it and replace it with fresh solution.
- Use test strips in the Rescue™ solution: if the test strips do not read the correct dilution that you have mixed (1:16 or 1:64), you will need to dispose of it and replace it with fresh solution.
- If the solution is fine, you are okay to keep using it to disinfect dishes. Please not that the solution should be disposed of at least daily, or sooner.
